Gamtae is a type of edible green alga, 100% natural seaweed that is found only in Korea and Japan.  It grows only in unpolluted tidal flats and can’t be farmed.  This gamtae can only be collected by hand from the clean tidal flats from December to March.  Washing and drying processes are performed by hand.  No chemicals in any form are added.  Gamtae is a traditional seaweed food that has a strong sea scent with a distinct bitter taste, but sweet when chewed.
